A traditional Caribbean appetizer made with ripe plantains and cooked in an air fryer.
Ingredients
- ripe plantains
- salt
- vegetable oil for frying
Peel the plantains and cut them into thick slices.
Preheat the air fryer to 400F (200C).
Brush the plantain slices with oil and season with salt.
Place the plantain slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 10 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
Remove the plantain slices from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.
Use a tostonera or a flat surface to flatten the plantain slices.
Return the flattened plantain slices to the air fryer and cook for another 5 minutes or until crisp and golden.
Serve the patacones hot and enjoy!
